Peacock is a popular streaming service that provides access to series, movies, TV, and more. It is available on a wide range of devices. If you have a Vizio Smart TV, you can also use Peacock, as it’s available as a built-in Vizio SmartCast app.

In this guide, I will show you how to use Peacock on your Vizio TV. Read on to learn how to access and sign into Peacock on your Vizio TV.

Check Your Vizio’s Compatibility (SmartCast vs. VIA)

Peacock is available on Vizio Smart TVs from 2016 or later that are running on the SmartCast operating system. Older Vizio models, including those with VIA (the precursor to SmartCast), may not be supported. Check your TV model to confirm compatibility before proceeding.

Vizio TVs support over 300 built-in apps, including Peacock.

To open Peacock on your Vizio TV, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Vizio Home button on your remote.
  2. Click the left arrow to open the menu.
  3. Scroll down and select Apps.
  4. Select App Search and enter “Peacock,” then select it.
  5. Select Home Screen Apps to change which apps appear on the home screen and Peacock to the home screen if you wish.

Personalize: Profiles and Subtitles

Like Netflix, Peacock allows you to create different profiles. By default, there are two profiles: an Account Holder and a Kids profile. Select the Account Holder profile to set an avatar and enter your details (such as year of birth and name). You can also click on the plus sign next to New Profile to add a new profile. You can have up to six profiles in total on one account.

You can also adjust the captions and subtitles. When watching something, hit the pause button and then click right on the text bubble icon that says “Audio & Subtitles” on your remote. Then, select the subtitles you want.

No App? Cast It or Use a Streaming Stick

You can also use Peacock TV with an Amazon Fire TV stick.

If you have an older Vizio TV, you may not be able to use Peacock on the TV directly. In that case, your best option is to buy a physical Chromecast device and plug it into the HDMI port on your TV to enable Chromecast. You can then cast from your phone to your TV using Chromecast.

Another option is using a streaming stick or a set top box from Cox, DirecTV, Spectrum, or Xfinity that supports Peacock. For example, Peacock is supported on Fire TV sticks that have Fire OS 6 or later.

Here is a list of set top boxes that support Peacock:

  • Cox Contour Box with Voice Remote
  • Cox Contour Stream Player
  • DirecTV C71KW-400
  • DirecTV C71KW-200
  • DirecTV P21KW-500
  • Spectrum Xumo Stream Box
  • Xfinity XG1v1 (Arris)
  • Xfinity XG1v3
  • Xfinity XG1v4
  • Xfinity XG2v2
  • Xfinity XiD
  • Xfinity Xi3
  • Xfinity Xi5
  • Xfinity Xi6
  • Xfinity Flex
  • Xfinity Xumo Stream Box

Quick Troubleshooting

If you can’t find Peacock, or if it refuses to load, here are some tips to help:

  • Make sure you have a supported Vizio Smart TV.
  • Reboot the TV and restart your router.
  • Ensure you have an internet connection.
  • Make sure Peacock is supported in your region (it is only available in the US and the US territories of American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands).
  • Try casting from your phone instead.

Conclusion

I hope this guide on how to set up Peacock on your Smart TV was helpful! You can use the Peacock app on your Vizio TV directly, or you can cast Peacock to your SmartCast TV from your phone. Both options work, but I recommend using the built-in Peacock app on Vizio for ease of use.
