TextMe is a VoIP service that allows you to send and receive texts and make and receive calls over the web. You will receive a virtual US phone number that can call and text with real phone numbers – except that yours will work over the internet.
TextMe for Android and iOS is a free texting app. The TextMe app’s features include not only free calling and texting to the US, but also to international numbers! Over 40 countries are supported.
In this guide, I will show you how to access TextMe and log in to your account.
Using TextMe on a Laptop or Computer
Unfortunately, TextMe is not available on the web at the moment. It is only available on Android, iOS, and Kindle devices.
However, if you have a Chromebook, you may be able to install and download it from the Google Play Store and use TextMe on your laptop.
How to Get a Phone Number on TextMe

Getting a phone number on TextMe is rather easy. When you sign up, you will be prompted to choose a country, state, and area code for your number. I chose US and New York, but you can choose any state and any area code within the state.
If you want a second phone number on TextMe, click on the “Me” tab in the bottom menu and then click on “My numbers.” Click on the pink “Get a 2nd phone number” button, and then go through the process of choosing a country, state, and area code to set up your new number.
Troubleshooting TextMe Login or App Issues
If TextMe is not working and not allowing you to log in, make sure you are using the correct email address and password. Try logging in with Google instead of an email and password or vice versa. Make sure you are using the correct email address and password or selecting the correct Google account to log in. If you don’t remember your password, click on “Forgot your password” or opt to use the “Email log-in link” option.
Also, make sure that you have a working internet connection. Close the app and try again. Uninstall and reinstall the app and try again.
How to Recover Your TextMe Account
If you can’t remember your password, you can recover your TextMe account and reset your TextMe login from the login screen. Just click on “Forgot your password?” and then enter your email address.
Open your email address and click on the link from TextMe to verify your login and change your password.
Can TextMe Numbers Be Traced or Expire?

So, can TextMe numbers be traced? The answer is generally no. It is pretty much impossible to trace TextMe numbers because they are VoIP numbers and not numbers that are tied to your real name or physical address.
On the other hand, do TextMe numbers expire? The answer is yes. If you have a free plan on TextMe, your number may expire after a period of inactivity. However, if you use your phone number regularly and make calls or send texts often, it will not expire, even on the free plan. The exact period of inactivity is not specified by TextMe, so just make sure to use it regularly to avoid having it expire.
Changing Your TextMe Password
We already discussed how to change your TextMe password if you forgot it. However, when you are logged in, you can always change the password easily.
Click on “Me” at the bottom and then on “My Account.” Click on “Password” and then enter your new password and enter it again to confirm it. Then, click on the check icon at the top of the screen to confirm the new password change.
Retrieving Deleted Messages on TextMe
Unfortunately, you can not retrieve deleted TextMe messages. Since you can’t recover messages you deleted on TextMe, it is important to be careful before deleting any messages, as you won’t be able to retrieve them.
Conclusion
We hope this guide helped you use the TextMe app more effectively and manage your TextMe account. TextMe is a great tool, and I really love it! However, there are other options as well that do have a web version.
For example, TextNow is my favorite VoIP app, because not only does it have a web version, but you can get a TextNow sim card and get FREE cellular service across the US (supported by ads) even if you don’t have Wi-Fi! That is something that TextMe does not offer.
