Do you want to redial a busy number on Android, but you don’t want to deal with manually redialing the number? Being able to auto-redial on Android will make your life a lot easier when you are calling numbers that are often busy.
These numbers typically include government agencies, like the DMV, doctors’ offices, hotlines, and other numbers that are frequently busy. In this guide, I will show you how to enable auto-redial on Android so that your phone automatically redials numbers that get the busy signal.
No longer will you need to manually hang up and redial the number countless times while banging your head on the wall. Save yourself the frustration by using an auto-redial app so your phone can keep dialing the busy number until you get through!
Using Third-Party Auto Redial Apps
Since Android doesn’t yet have a built-in automatic call retry feature, you will need to use an auto-redial app on Android. The best redial apps are “Auto Redial” and “Auto Redial – Fast Redialer.”
My favorite app is Auto Redial. It has several amazing features, including:
- Schedule when to start calling and redialing a number (good for calling during business hours) – you can even schedule multiple calls to multiple numbers
- Add extensions to numbers you are calling
- Decide how many times to redial the number and the interval between each redial
- Decide which sim card to use for calling and redialing the number if your phone has two sim cards
- Decide how long to stay on the call before hanging up when getting the busy signal
Audio Redial – Fast Redialer is another great app that has many of the same features, such as deciding how soon to redial after getting the busy signal, adding extensions to numbers, choosing which sim card to use, and more.
Alternatives for Redialing Busy Numbers
Unfortunately, you can’t use *66 for redialing on a wireless device. This carrier-based redial service is only available on landlines.
However, almost all Android phones allow you to redial a busy number by hanging up the call and simply tapping on the “call” button in the phone app once or twice until the number you last called appears. It doesn’t require you to download an app, but it’s not really an automatic redial. It simply shortens the process by avoiding the need to manually re-enter the number again.
Troubleshooting Auto Redial Issues
Let’s try to troubleshoot auto-redial issues you may face. To fix redial not working issues, the first step is to restart your phone and uninstall and reinstall the app.
However, some apps can be buggy at times. Therefore, if you are experiencing auto-redial issues on an app, try a different auto-redial app to see if that solves the problem.
Tips for Managing Auto Redial on Android
It’s important to manage your audio-redial settings in the app for efficient auto-redialing. For example, make sure to schedule calls at times when you expect it to be less busy (such as early in the morning, after the organization opens).
You should also set a limit for how many times to redial a number before giving up and trying another time, so adjust your redial attempts accordingly. Also, make sure to set a time limit for when to hang up after a call, so the app can hang up and automatically redial the number. Most apps do not automatically hang up when getting the busy signal, so you need to set a time limit instead.
Finally, I recommend setting the auto-redial to be on speaker (both apps mentioned above offer that setting) so you can set your phone down and do other stuff as it redials.
Conclusion
We hope you enjoyed our Android auto redial guide and call management tips for redialing busy numbers. Download one of the apps today, enter the number you want to redial, set a time for when you want to redial (or start right away), and just sit back and wait until you no longer get the busy signal!
